Better Driving with NSU: Cartoons by Rudolf Griffel

Product information "Better Driving with NSU: Cartoons by Rudolf Griffel"

NSU vehicles are well known and much loved for their unique designs. Behind these designs is Rudolf Griffel, a cartoonist and graphic designer. His distinctive style has shaped the development of NSU cars, motorbikes, mopeds and bicycles. Even today, the NSU Quickly – one of the first post-war mopeds – the popular NSU Max motorbike and the classic NSU Prinz car still set car enthusiasts’ hearts racing.

NSU: motorbikes, cars, bicycles and passion

Heiko Rossnagel is a self-confessed NSU enthusiast and fan. He set out to find the man behind the NSU models and discovered a stunning archive. True to his surname, Rudolf Griffel loved drawing and began creating his first caricatures at an early age. This eventually led him to study graphic design and to work for NSU. His widow, Lydia, has preserved her husband’s works and is now offering you, for the first time, a glimpse into Rudolf Griffel’s complete body of work:

  • Unretouched illustrations, some bearing the artist’s annotations
  • Divided into the chapters ‘Two-Wheels’, ‘Motors’ and ‘Miscellany’
  • An illustrated book not just for NSU classic car enthusiasts, motoring fans and those with a penchant for nostalgia
  • Captures the spirit of the 1950s and 1960s
  • Published as part of the highly regarded ‘Edition Audi Tradition’ series

Hop on your NSU bicycle, start up your NSU moped or car, and off you go to the era of the German motorisation miracle!
